Bangriposi is a small tribal village situated beside Buribalam River in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. The hamlet is nestled in the Thakurani range of hills. Bangriposi is situated in the outskirts of Simlipal National Park and is also considered as a gateway to this sanctuary. The surrounding environment of Bangriposi is full of scenic beauty and serenity. The prime attraction of Bangriposi is the Buribalam Waterfalls. You can also visit the Kanak Devi shrine situated in the hills. The sunrise seen from Bangriposi is an unforgettable experience. You can reach Balasore from Howrah by train. Passenger trains, buses and trekkers are running from Balasore to Bangriposi. One can also reach Bangriposi directly by Keonjhar bound bus which leaves Kolkata at around 7 am.

Giridih

Giridih is a health resort situated in the state of Jharkhand. The place is located on the banks of River Usri. Every year many tourists visit Giridih to recover their health. Chumbung

Chumbung is a small village in the district of West Sikkim. The village is primarily inhabited by the Bhutias. From here one can get a spectacular view of Mt. Khangchendzonga. Lolegaon

How to Reach

Trains are running from Sealdah, Howrah and Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri. The journey from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri takes around 10 hours. Auto rickshaws are plying from New Jalpaiguri to Siliguri. Buses are running from Siliguri bus stand to Lava via Kalimpong. From there you can get trekker to reach Lolegaon which is 20 km from Lava. It takes about an hour to reach Lolegaon from Lava. One can also get hired cars from Siliguri to reach Lolegaon directly.

Sutan

Sutan is a tribal village inhabited by the Santhals, Munda and Bhumijra tribes. It is located at a distance of 60 km from Bankura. Forests of Sal, Palash, Mahua and Piyal surround the area. The main attraction for the tourists is the beautiful Sutan Lake. There is facility for boating in this lake. A watch tower has been constructed here to get a unmatched view of the surrounding forests. Sometimes wild elephants are also seen here which come here from Dalma Pahar.

One can reach Bankura by train from Howrah. From there you can get bus to reach Sutan village from Bankura.

Jhilimili

Jhilimili is a beautiful tourist place, 15 km from Mukutmanipur, in Bankura district of West Bengal. Jhilimili is also known as the Darjeeling of South Bengal. The way from Ranibandh to Jhilimili is spectacular with dense natural forest on both sides of the road. Literally translating to sparkle in the Bengali language, Jhilimili gets its name from the sparkle of micaceous soil that covers the area. Mounted on top of a hillock, the place is surrounded by thick forests of varying heights. Flickering beams of sunlight somehow make their way through the dense foliage adding to its charm and thrill.



Sightseeing and Activities

Kangsabati river is flowing by the side of this hill which adds to the beauty of this tourist spot. A watch tower is located on the bank of the river. It offers a mind-blowing, panoramic view of the surroundings. You can take a idyllic stroll along the edge of the river or simply sit back and listen to the melodious singing of birds.

Small tribal villages are scattered in and around the forest. Those who wish to get a taste of tribal life can hike to one of the villages and spend some time with the inhabitants. The annual Tusu Parab, a tribal festival worshiping Goddess Tusu is a major attraction in the region. The festival is celebrated every year on the bank of River Kangsabati during mid-January.


Best Time to Visit

Jhilimili is best enjoyed during the winter months of November to February. Mid-January is, however, the best time to visit as it is the time when tribes in Jhilimili celebrate Tusu Parab, a tribal festival in which they worship Goddess Tusu. Tourists can get to experience tribal culture, folk songs and dance during this time.

How to Reach

Trains are running from Howrah, Santragachi and Shalimar to Bankura. It takes around three and a half hours to reach Bankura by train. Buses are running from Bankura and Mukutmanipur to Jhilimili via Khatra.
