How to Reach

Trains are running from Kolkata and Sealdah station to New Jalpaiguri. Kurseong is located on the way to Darjeeling from Siliguri. You can reach Kurseong from Darjeeling by jeep or minibus. The valley stands at the North of Kurseong town. Share taxis, cars and buses are plying from Kurseong to Kettle Valley.

Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the vicinity of Siliguri and is a paradise for bird lovers. The forest is also home to elephants. Sukna, the entry point to Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is 10 km from Siliguri. The glimpse of Mt. Kanchenjunga through the dense bushes and trees of the forest add to the beauty of this jungle. Sukna Lake is situated inside the forest. During winter thousands of migratory birds visit this lake. The sanctuary remains open from 8 am to 4 pm. It is closed during monsoon season.

How to Reach

Trains are running from Sealdah, Howrah and Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri. The journey from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri takes around 10 hours. Auto rickshaws are plying from New Jalpaiguri to Siliguri. The sanctuary stands beside the road leading to Darjeeling from Siliguri. Buses, jeeps and taxis are available from Siliguri to get to Sukna.

Massanjore

Lamahatta is a new tourist destination near Darjeeling which is being developed by WBTDC. This eco-tourism destination is coming up as a part of the Darjeeling-Lamahatta-Takdah circuit. The place is perfect for honeymoon couples. Lamahatta is situated at an altitude of 6500 ft. The prime attraction of Lamahatta is its untouched natural beauty. The magnificent Kanchenjunga mountain range and the Teesta river adds to the beauty of this place. A number of trekking route are also there at Lamahatta.

Chamurchi

Chamurchi is a small and beautiful hill town situated near Indo-Bhutan border. The place is still unexplored and virgin and you will not find much tourists hanging around you. Cascading rivers, lush green tea gardens and a small market make up Chamurchi. The view of Mt. Kanchenjunga is mesmerizing. From Chamurchi you can visit Samtse in Bhutan. Another attraction is the Musical Stone Cave which is just 3 km from Chamurchi. The main characteristic of this cave is that when someone strikes the stones in the cave, a musical sound comes out. You will also witness the flow of the Diana river. Wild animals are sometimes seen drinking water from this river. Rohiti, Garuchira and Kalapani forests are also worth a visit. These forests are home to elephants, gaur and leopards.

Ghatshila

Cooch Behar

Cooch Behar is a heritage destination situated in North Bengal. It currently serves as the district headquarters of the Cooch Behar district. The prime attraction of Cooch Behar is the Rajbari (King's Palace). Constructed by the famous Koch king Maharaja Nripendranarayan, the palace now serves as a museum developed by the Archaeological Survey of India.
