Darjeeling is a very popular hill station in the state of West Bengal. Situated at a height of 2050 metres above sea level, the place is well known for its scenic beauty, snow clad mountain peaks and lush green tea gardens spread over acres. The third highest peak in the world and the highest in India, Mt. Kanchenjunga is clearly visible from here and you can enjoy a panoramic view of the peak. One of the most interesting attractions of Darjeeling is the toy train ride. Take a magical ride on the train and watch the hills amble by as the train chugs through the mountainside. While at Darjeeling, the one place you must visit is the Tiger Hill, located 11 km away, which offers some of the most spectacular views of sunrise. Imagine clouds descending down the valleys below you as you savour perfect views of the sunrise and the snow covered mountains. For shopping enthusiasts, a stroll down the mall is more like heaven on earth. A short walk from the mall will take you to the Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park. A haven for animals of all kinds, the zoo hosts a variety of animals in natural habitats including some rare species like Red Panda, Tibetan Wolf, Himalayan Black Bear and Cloud Leopard. Other attractions of Darjeeling are the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Lloyd’s Botanical Garden, Bengal Natural History Museum, Abha Art Gallery, Rock Garden, Lake Race Course and Happy Valley Tea Estate.

Trains are running from Sealdah, Howrah and Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri. Auto rickshaws are plying from New Jalpaiguri to Siliguri. From Siliguri you can get bus, minibus, share taxi to Darjeeling.
