Kalej Valley is a beautiful tea tourism destination situated 15 km from Darjeeling in the state of West Bengal. This picturesque village was named by the British after the Kalij pheasant which is found here. The hills surrounding the hamlet is covered with lush green tea plantations. A tea factory is located on one side of the tea garden. You can pay a visit to the factory and experience the processing of tea leaves. Kalej Valley is also a bird lover's paradise. The place is home to numerous bird species. Another great attraction near Kalej Valley is the Rainbow Waterfalls. One can also visit Jorbungalow, Sukhiapokhri and Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary from Kalej Valley.
How to Reach
Trains are running from Sealdah, Kolkata and Howrah to New Jalpaiguri. You can reach Rangbull from Siliguri by toy train or car. Kalej Valley is 5 km from Rangbull. Hired cars are available from Rangbull to reach Kalej Valley.
