Gitkolbong

Gitkolbong is a completely new and virgin tourist destination situated near Kalimpong in West Bengal. The name of the place comes from a Lepcha word meaning 'place of oak tree'. Surrounded by cardamom plants, blue sky and mesmerizing scenery, the green valley of Gitkolbong is truly a nature lover's retreat. From Gitkolbong, one can go for a small trek to the Sanabeong Organic Tea Garden. You can also visit the Buddha Stupa and Gitkhola Riverside. The place is a bird watcher's paradise as well since several bird species are spotted in and around the village.

How to Reach

Trains are running from Sealdah, Kolkata and Howrah to New Jalpaiguri. Auto rickshaws ply from New Jalpaiguri to Siliguri. Kalimpong is located 72 km from Siliguri. Buses, cars and jeeps are available from Siliguri to reach Kalimpong. Gitkolbong is 40 km from Kalimpong. You can hire a car from Kalimpong to reach Gitkolbong.
