Murshidabad

Murshidabad is a historic city situated in West Bengal. During the Mughal Period, it was the capital of Bengal. There are many tourist spots in Murshidabad. Hazarduari Palace is the prime attraction of Murshidabad. The palace has been converted into a museum. It remains open on all days from 10 am to 5 pm except Friday. A number of attractions including Imambara, Madina Masjid, Ghari Ghar and Bacchawali Kaman (Cannon) are located inside the premises of Hazarduari. You can visit Katra Mosque by Horse Cart. Motijeel is also worth seeing. Other attractions include Kathgola Garden House, Nashipur Palace, Radhamadhab Temple, Nimokharam Deuri etc. Apart from this you can visit Ghantaghar and Wasef Manzil near Bhagirathi Ghat. It is better to have a guide accompanying you while visiting these places.

How to Reach

Trains are running from Sealdah and Kolkata station to Murshidabad. The journey takes about 4 hours. You can also reach Baharampur from Esplanade by bus. Lalbag of Murshidabad is just 10 km from Baharampur. Trekkers and auto rickshaws are plying in this route.
