Krishnanagar

Krishnanagar is a heritage city situated on the bank of Jalangi river in Nadia district of West Bengal. The place is renowned for its famous ruler, Raja Krishna Chandra Rai during whose reign the town flourished as a center of art and culture. One of the most prominent attraction of Krishnanagar is the Krishnanagar Rajbari. The exquisite work on the walls and architecture of the palace is amazing. Other tourist spots include Roman Catholic Church and Pramath Chowdhury's House which was visited by the famous Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore. You can also visit Ghurni which is famous for its industry of clay pottery and clay dolls.

How to Reach

Trains are running from Kolkata and Sealdah station to Krishnanagar City Junction. It takes approximately 2-3 hours to reach Krishnanagar from Kolkata. Krishnanagar is 118 km from Kolkata by road. Regular bus service is available from Kolkata to Krishnanagar.
