Radhanagar

Radhanagar is a village in Arambagh subdivision of Hooghly district of West Bengal. It is the birthplace of the renowned social reformist Raja Rammohun Roy. The ancestral home of Raja Ram Mohan Roy is one of the main attractions of the place. In front of the house there is a memorial hall, the architecture of which was planned by the famous Bengali poet and writer Rabindranath Tagore. A Dolmanch is situated near the hall. You can take a stroll to Raghunathpur where you will find mango orchards with lots of mango trees that were planted by Raja Ram Mohan Roy. In winter, one can get permit for picnic inside the mango orchards of Raghunathpur.

How to Reach

Local trains are running from Howrah to Tarakeshwar. Frequent bus service is available from Tarakeshwar to Basudevpur in Arambagh. You can also reach Basudevpur directly by bus from Esplanade Bus Terminus in Kolkata. Buses are plying from Basudevpur to Khanakul. Trekkers are available from Khanakul to reach Radhanagar. However it is better to book a car and visit Radhanagar along with Garmandaran, Kamarpukur and Jairambati.
