It is said that nine small islands together have constituted Nabadwip and hence it's name. Shree Chaitanyadev was born in this holy land. But there is still debate on the question that whether Chaitanyadev was born in Mayapur or Nabadwip. Nabadwip is an old and historical city. The whole city has come up in an unplanned way. You can hire a cycle rickshaw to see all the places of interest. Sonar Gouranga, Buro Shib, Jagai Madhai Mandir, Gadadhar House, Puri Mandir, Sachimata's Mandir, Rani's House, Sri Guru Ashram are some of the attractions of Nabadwip. Other than these, there are innumerable temples in Nabadwip. It is important to note that all temples of Nabadwip remain closed from 1 pm to 3 pm.
