Barkul is located beside the Chilika Lake in the state of Odisha. Spanning over an area of 1100 sq. km Chilika Lake hosts a variety of aquatic and marine animals. There are three tourist places which are gateways to Chilika - Satpada, Rambha and Barkul. The green hills, small villages, beautiful river beds make Barkul an exciting weekend destination. There are several small islands in the lake. You can take a motorboat ride and visit these small yet beautiful islets. During winter many migratory birds are seen in Chilika Lake.
How to Reach
You can board Chennai-bound trains from Howrah and disembark at Balugaon station. From there you can hire a car or auto rickshaw to Barkul. Barkul is 8 km from Balugaon.
