Shivkhola is a picturesque tourist destination in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. The prime attraction of the place is its mesmerizing natural beauty with the cascading Shiv Khola river making its way through boulders and rocks. How to Reach

Trains are running from Sealdah, Howrah and Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri. The journey from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri takes around 10 hours. Auto rickshaws are plying from New Jalpaiguri to Siliguri. Cars are available from New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri to reach Rongtong via Hillcart Road. Shivkhola is easily accessible from Rongtong via Nurbong Tea Estate.

Gopegarh

Gopegarh is an emerging getaway located at a distance of 5 km from Medinipur in West Bengal. The place has derived its name from the fort of the Gope king who once ruled here. Phulberia

Phulberia is a small village situated 30 km from Bankura town in West Bengal. The place lies in a peaceful and serene environment away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The village is set in a natural surrounding with trees, shrubs and dense foliage. Several species of birds including parrot, dove, bulbul and purple-rumped sunbird are seen sitting and feeding on the fruit trees. The 'School of Fundamental Research' which was founded by Acharya Satyendranath Bose has set up a research centre at Fulberia village. They have also constructed a guest house. The guest house is surrounded by flowering shrubs. A narrow water stream flows near the place. You can take a lonely stroll to the local village market where a variety of items are sold.

Labhpur

Labhpur is a little-known weekend getaway near Santiniketan in Birbhum district of West Bengal. It is the birthplace of the famous Bengali writer, Tarashankar Bandopadhyay. Many of his novels and stories carry a vivid description of this area. A walk through the village roads will take you to the writer's ancestral house. The main attraction of Labhpur is the Fullara Devi Temple. This 100-year old temple is surrounded by dense foliage and believed to be one of the 51 Shaktipiths. Legend has it that the lower lip of Goddess Sati fell at the site of the temple. A huge pond situated near the temple adds to the beauty of the place. Every year, a 10-day fair is held at the Fullora temple during Magh purnima. Another attraction of Labhpur is the Daldali Lake.

Trains are running from Sealdah and Howrah to Bolpur-Shantiniketan. Labhpur is 50 km from Bolpur. Regular bus service is available from Bolpur to Labhpur. Alternatively, you can reach Ahmadpur from Howrah or Sealdah by train. Labhpur is 12 km from Ahmadpur.

Vetnai

Vetnai is a small village located in Ganjam district of Odisha. Nestled in the laps of the Eastern Ghats, the place is home to innumerable black bucks which roam freely in the mountain slopes. The local people consider the black bucks as a symbol of sanctity and good will. You can also visit the nearby Monglajori Bird Sanctuary. How to Reach

Trains are running from Howrah to Brahmapur. It takes around 9 hours to reach Brahmapur from Howrah. Aska is 50 km from Brahmapur. Regular bus service is available from Brahmapur to reach Aska. Vetnai is 12 km from Aska. Minibuses and trekkers are plying from Aska to Vetnai.



Accommodation

No proper accommodation facilities are available at Vetnai. You can stay in one of the village houses or your own tent. You can also consider spending the night at one of the few budget hotels in Aska.
