Dhabaleswar is a small island on River Mahanadi. It is located 27 km from the town of Cuttack. A temple dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva is situated here. The name of the island has been derived from the name of the temple. The place is serene and scenic. You can also go for a memorable boat ride in the river. You can reach Cuttack from Howrah by train. Autos and rickshaws are available from the station to reach Badambari Bus Stand. Buses and cars ply from Badambari Bus Stand to Mangeshwar. There is a hanging foot bridge through which you can reach the island.

You can board Shaktipunj Express from Howrah and disembark at Daltonganj. Kechki is 19 km from here. Buses, jeeps and passengers trains are available from Daltonganj to reach Kechki.

Kapilash

Kapilash situated at an altitude of 1575 ft is also known as Kailash of Odisha. The town of Dhenkanal is the gateway to Kapilash. A temple of Lord Shiva is located atop the hill. To get to the temple one has to climb 1390 steps. The way to the temple is thrilling with dense forests on both sides of the path. There is a motorable road too. The singing birds, colourful butterflies and amazing waterfalls will mesmerize you. A temple of Lord Vishwanath is also there in Kapilash. There is a small zoo at the foothills of Kapilash. It remains closed on Tuesdays. The Gharial Breeding Centre and Science Park are an added attraction to the tourists. You can go for boating in the lake situated beside the zoo.

How to Reach

Trains are running from Howrah to Dhenkanal. It takes about 7 hours to reach Dhenkanal from Howrah. Alternatively, you can also reach Cuttack from Howrah and Shalimar by train. From Badambari Bus Stand in Cuttack you can get bus or taxi to reach Dhenkanal, 21 km from away. Buses, trekkers and taxis are available from Dhenkanal in order to reach Kapilash.

Rajabhatkhawa

Rajabhatkhawa is a small town located on the outskirts of Buxa Tiger Reserve. It is the main gateway to the tiger reserve. A Vulture Breeding Centre has been developed at Rajabhatkhawa by the West Bengal Forest Development Corporation (WBFDC). The place is surrounded by dense forest which gives an unmatched beauty to it. The green forests, grey hills, cascading river, roar of the tigers make Rajabhatkhawa an ideal spot for experiencing jungle tourism at its best. You can visit the nearby Buxa Tiger Reserve. Entry permits for the Tiger Reserve are issued from Nature Interpretation Centre at Rajabhatkhawa. One can go for a 5 km trek to Buxa Fort. You can visit Sikiajhora from Rajabhatkhawa via Damanpur where you can experience a boat ride through the Buxa Tiger Reserve. The forest of Chilapata and Jayanti is also worth a visit.
