Beloon

Beloon Eco Village is a small village situated on the banks of Shibai River in the district of Bardhhaman. In winter flocks of migratory birds visit the waters of River Shibai. You can take a nice stroll along the river bank watching the boats sailing on the river. If you want you may hire a boat yourself and sail in the waters of Shibai river. The best time to visit the place is during winter when a large number of birds including White Throated Kingfisher, Woolly Necked Stork, Ruddy Shelduck are seen in this village. There is a lake close to Beloon Eco Village. You can also do fishing in this lake. From Beloon, you can visit Kalyanpur Ghat where a number of dolphins are seen.

How to Reach

Trains are running from Howrah and Sealdah to Katwa. It takes around three and a half hours to reach Katwa from Kolkata. Cars, buses and trains are available from Katwa to reach Shiblun Halt Station. Shiblun is 8 km from Katwa. Beloon Eco Village is just 1 km from Shiblun Halt. You can either walk or ride a bullock cart to get to Beloon village. Beloon is also accessible from Kolkata by car via Bardhaman-Katwa Road.

Baruva

Baruva is a new and virgin beach resort situated in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. The Mahendra Tanaya river merges into the Bay of Bengal at this place. Baruva used to be a seaport during the British colonial rule but the harbor was closed in the year 1948. The main town of Baruva is located a little away from the sea beach. Apart from the sea coast, there are some ancient temples which are added attractions of this place. The most notable one is the Kotilingeswara Swami Temple. How to Reach

There are two ways to reach Baruva. You can reach Brahmapur from Howrah by train. Baruva is 70 km from there. Trains are also running from Howrah to Palasa. Baruva is just 35 km from Palasa.

Jhilli

Jhilli is an exciting weekend spot situated near Jhargram. A large water reservoir surrounded by lush greenery is the prime attraction of Jhilli. Paddle boating facility is available in the reservoir. Migratory birds visit this place during the winter. Although Jhilli remains full of people during daylight, as soon as the sun drops below the horizon the place gets deserted. But adventure lovers can opt for night stay inside a tent at Jhilli. Hatibari is 24 km from Jhargram. Just 2 km before it one has to turn left and travel 7 km from there to reach Jhilli.

Bhitarkanika National Park

Bhitarkanika National Park is situated in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the second largest mangrove forest of the country. Although tigers and elephants are not seen in this sanctuary but deer, wild pig, wild cat and birds are frequently observed. The number of different species of kingfishers is attractive. Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a large number of crocodiles. White crocodiles are also seen in this sanctuary. Every year the place where Brahmani River meets the Bay of Bengal gets full of Olive Ridley Turtles. They lay their eggs there and then go back to the Indian Ocean.

How to Reach

Trains are running from Howrah and Shalimar to Bhadrak. The journey takes about four and a half hours. Chandbali, the entry point to Bhitarkanika National Park is 50 km from Bhadrak. Private cars and buses are plying from Bhadrak to Chandbali. From Chandbali you have to hire a launch to get to the interior of Bhitarkanika Sanctuary. Permits for entering Bhitarkanika is issued from Khola, 16 km from Chandbali.

Sitong

Sitong is a picturesque hill hamlet situated in the foothills of Darjeeling Himalayas. During the months of October to December, this village transforms into an 'orange village'. The hamlet of Sitong is mostly inhabited by the Lepchas. A number of trekking routes start from Sitong. You can visit Mongpu Bungalow by car. The houses on terraced slopes and orange orchards make Sitong an ideal place to spend time with nature. You may also visit the church on the hill top.

Trains are running from Sealdah and Kolkata station to New Jalpaiguri. Auto rickshaws ply from New Jalpaiguri to Siliguri. The best route to reach Sitong from Siliguri is via Mongpu-Surel-Labda. Buses are available from Siliguri to reach Mongpu. One has to travel the rest of the way to Sitong by car.
