Sightseeing and Activities

You can take a bullock cart ride along the village trails to roam around the entire village and experience the rhythms of rural life. A little walk from Singi will take you to the Buro Shibtala Temple. This temple exhibits the typical temple architecture of Bengal during the 18th and 19th century. Sribati village, located close to Singi, is also worth a visit. The village is home to several beautiful terracotta temples which are nearly 300 years old.

Another attraction near Singi is the Jogadya Devi Temple in Khirgram which is one of the 51 Shakti Pithas of Hindus. The temple houses a black stone idol of Mahishamardini, a form of Goddess Jogadya or Durga. It is popularly believed that the deity lives in the water of Khirdighi, a pond adjacent to the temple and comes out on the Sankranti (last day of month) of Bengali month Baishakh to reside in the temple. 22 km from Singi lies Purbasthali, a prominent place for bird watching. Other places of interest around Singi include Jamalpur Shiva Temple and Purbasthali.

Local trains are running from Howrah and Sealdah to Patuli. The village of Singi is easily accessible from Patuli railway station. You can also drive to Singi by car from Kolkata via Shyambazar, Dunlop, Dankuni, Jaugram, Memari, Satgachhia, Manteswar, Mejhiari, Singi More, Singi.
